I saw this movie 2 days back. It’s very good movie and something different from the daily masala movies released. Rajat Kapoor has created a gang of his actors to make some fine movies. This film is written by him and Saurav Shukla who also plays an important character in this film. Rajat Kapoor is a fine actor and director. And “Mithya” proves it.
The film revolves around a poor junior artist VK (Ranveer Shorey) struggling to get a lead role. And this is the time when you’ll have lot of laughs. The struggle for getting money, How he gets into different shoots, As a dubbing artist, Some scenes at barber shop. It all makes you laugh. But faith has something different for VK. It’s a coincidence that VK and underworld don Rajabhai has similar faces. The enemy gang of Rajabhai decides to plant him in place of Rajabhai. This gang includes Vinay Pathak, Naseeruddin Shah, Neha Dhupia and Saurav Shukla.
Now you have some more laughs here. This gang trains him to act, talk, behave, walk like Rajabhai. Many funny moments here but mine favorite is when he wants to shoot himself for Omlette. After training he is swapped with Rajabhai. But one incident changes the track of this story. It’s the turning point. He gets attached to Rajabhai’s family. And then what happens??? You gotta see that.
This is one of the film which is made superbb inspite of having a sad ending. I never expected this ending. But thats make this film different. Good Direction by Rajat Kapoor, Fine acting performance from Ranveer Shorey, Vinay Pathak, Naseeruddin Shah, Saurav Shukla. Though there is less to do for latter 3. Neha Dhupia is a showdoll. But does well in some of the acting moments she got. Good Story and Screenplay and Dialogues never make you bored while watching this film. Music I thought is the minus in this film. Worth watching and I rate this 4\5. How to make a low budget film a success?? You have to learn something from Rajat Kapoor.
