I Loved Her

A decade ago, I had this stamp on me which said “Geek”. Personal computers were still new in those years. My keen interest in those machines helped me acquire a great deal of knowledge without any formal training in computing. In those days, I used to fantasize about computers talking back to me. Responding to me and my emotions. Huh..That was a geek’s fantasy.
Cut to 2014. They actually made a movie about my fantasy. It turns out, I wasn’t alone with the crazy idea of an OS with emotions. The movie I am talking about is Her.

The story is set in not so distant future. A simple guy in his mid-life crisis, Writing letters on behalf of someone, is completely alone and void of any social life. He suddenly encounters an OS which claims to have consciousness. His rather boring and very single life now gets an upgrade of romance in form of OS1.
The most interesting part in this movie is the use of voice. From the minute one, Everything revolves around voice commands. Operating systems used in the movie interact using voice, Bothways. Thirteen minutes into the movie, You hear the silky voice of Scarlett Johansson. It casts a spell on you, the effect of which remain till the end of the movie and for some, even after that. There no representation of her character whatsoever. There is no symbol or icon or picture representing her character, Samantha. It’s all Scarlett.

She wakes him up in the morning as if she is his real wife. She arranges date for him after going through his mails. She also sorts out his mails and actually tells him which ones to keep and which ones to delete. They go on a walk together. They have simulated sex. In one scene, A young girl plays the role of front end for Samantha. Like a bridge between OS and Human. That is the high point of this movie for me. You want more and more of Her.
The only thing I didn’t like was the end. I wasn’t disappointed. But they should have made it clear whatever happens to Her. This is my second favorite English romantic movie after Definitely Maybe. I’ll rate it 9/10.

The Crazy dreams

This is the second part in the series of dreams. When I speak of dreams, many times they are fantasies and  crazy. They are not at all related to your life. And these crazy dreams many times provide a good food for laughter. Most of us are afraid to tell anyone about these crazy dreams. This is because you are sure that the listener will make fun of you. I am not one of such kind. I’ll tell you some of the crazy dreams I used to see and I still see them.

Long time ago (It should be loooooooooooong. But I want to keep it short and simple) when I started dreaming, I don’t remember the actual day. Just it was long long ago (This sounds good ) when I was a school boy or you can call me a kid. Kids certainly have crazy dreams. They live in fantasies. The innosense cannot be matched by anyone. So the same thing was with me. But I was one hell of menace.

I had crazy dreams then. I still remember them and I still get them. One of them was to fly. I use to fly from one place to another. Traveling in all known and unknown places in this world. At that time we didn’t own a television and never heard of superman. When we bought this idiot box and I saw this cartoon character I was in love with that character. “Up,Up and away” used to be my favorite lines. It’s been years now since I watched that cartoon. Though I saw “Superman Returns” a year and half ago, the charm which the animation possess was not in that movie. Due to my dreams I am still eager to watch that cartoon.

Another was the one where I was a scientist. This scientists would perform experiments which no other person would dare to do. The lab was hidden underground somewhere and was unknown and isolated from the human beings. I am still trying to figure out from where I got this idea of dream. Crazy dreams have this funny side. If you have one dream that is crazy enough then share it. Don’t mind if we laugh at you.

Time for Time Machine

Time machine has always been a fantasy. Thousands of fictional books have been written on this topic and still many more to come. Same is with movies. The classic Back to the future series is the best example I can give at this moment. Although movies on this subject are dried up they will not stop. There will be more in future. This is one fantasy which all will love to come true. Well.. I have good news for you then.

Here is a smart guy named João Magueijo from Portugal who found a great breakthrough. Almost all of us know that light travels at 3 lakh kilometers per second. (If you don’t know then you bunked your science classes. You may skip this post as it may not turn out interesting to you.) But this guy thinks that the speed of light varies. Due to this Einsteins theory will go in vain. This means we can travel with speed of light.

We will be able to travel in space, solve the mystery of black holes and travel through time.  Forget about first two, What will you do if you can travel between times? I have many things to do there. Erasing some bad memories will help. But I don’t want to erase all of them. I would love to visit my grandma. I miss her a lot.  I would like to transfer Microsoft, Google, Yahoo on my name at the time of their launch. I would also love to hold bush straight when the reporter throws shoes at him.

Many of you will travel in your future first so as to secure it. I would travel into my back life. There were many happy moments which I would love to visit again and enjoy again. Some silly fights which I want to correct. Why should I worry about the future which I haven’t seen??(That’s a mandatory question. Otherwise it means a lot.) Time machine will solve many of my problems.

So I’ll repeat again the same question? what will you do if you have time machine?

Lovestory 2050 – Is it so rubbish??

While sleeping on bed I had nothing much to do other than sleeping. To kill time I was tracking the path of the mosquitoes and trying to visualize the curves. Then I put these examples in my twelfth  class(In my dreams) to equation with the help of integrals. I have lost my dominance over integration and limits after my college. It seems there is no way back.

This movie Lovestory 2050 was lying for some days on my hard disk. I was hesitating to watch this due to many reviews and negative comments. But I have to. C’mon it’s got Priyanka. So I started and soon realized why this received so much booos(it’s “s” and not “z”).  Because there is a pet robot named boo in this film. I thought I’ll get my headache back and my fever will start again. I managed till the half. Then it was a bit easy.

I liked the plot of the story. But the screenplay is total mess. It is too much stretched with unnecessary events in the start. Most of you will get bored up during this time. I was about to but there was presence of Priyanka which was eye soothing. What else can make you resist the nuisance of screenplay? Our hero Harman does dance well. But fails in dialog delivery.
