Wake Up!!!

My love for movies is making me mad. I love to watch good movies and often torrents are the only source. Due to my limited bandwidth for each month, I have to use some tricks to get some downloads. That is because the unlimited downloading time is between 2a.m. to 8a.m. It is foolish thing to wake up everyday at that time and start the download and get back to sleep. So I just schedule them.

Over the years I gathered some good amount of knowledge for softwares. So I knew what to do. Just a little piece of software that will start the torrent client and then shutdown my computer just before 8a.m. It goes smooth most of the times. But there are times when it gets stuck and doesn’t download anything. I wake up in the morning only to find that nothing has been downloaded. That’s a bad start. Continue reading →

Heroes – Season 3

While I was sleeping the third wave begun. I was really keen for this wave. The interest for this series started last season. I live in India so the season was not aired simultaneously. I didn’t knew about this stuff till the time I decided to download whole season one. I watched something 9 of 11 episodes from the last season. They were great.

Few days ago I completed the two seasons download. Thanks to torrent. They are huge and it took days to complete them. Looking at the first season episode number, I doubt I’ll ever complete watching that stuff. It needs time and patience. I have patience but time is a thing I can’t afford. I’ll try to watch that. Many times you want to keep an eye on your connection. How much downloaded? or how much uploaded? or to check the amount of bandwidth consumed at an interval. There are many freewares for this and I’ll try to review some on my blog. This is the first one. If you spend a lot time being online or are deep into file sharing then this is the choice for you. Especially useful on torrents and you have limited quota per month.

History – Displays the statistics for hour, day, weeks and month basis. The chart is displayed in very visually friendly manner.

How to increase Torrent download speed

Torrent is now the most widely used form of sharing. Though there are sites which allow you to upload your file and share, they have some or other restrictions. Sites like Rapidshare, Megaupload often delete illegal content on report. Torrents don’t have such restrictions. You find many things which are not available via HTTP download. But as all things have some postive and negative, so do torrents.

It is very difficult to get good speed or high speed download. And morever it’s difficult to maintain it. You may get a very high download speed at start or in between but may last for a moment. It’s not stable and nothing can be done. But following are some tricks you can use to increase your download speed and get maximum out of your connection.
